Nude in ink

I went to the Getty yesterday, and was inspired by all the classical works. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the gold and silver inks I hadn't previously used look rather nice.

Dirty little secrets...

I've been working on a postcards series called 'Dirty little secrets...', its been a lot of fun so far just playing with the themes of Victorian melodrama, with a bit of a twist. I will be selling the originals at Splice at the Bordello tomorrow night!

The Flight of Lilian

Sybil, the Visionary

Dr. Reed's 4 o'clock Appt.

Hawthorne's Young Mistress

The Hand Dealt to Delilah
I've also been trying to knock out some bookmarks.

Amnesiac

April's Shower.

New pen and ink work!

I've been on a major pen and ink kick lately. I made these pieces especially for the show Infernal Contraption I was in last week. It was a really great event, a steampunk themed 'soiree'. Anyway, here's the art!

I've been playing with collage and cut up prose.

Delessio's

Finished 2 more of the 4x4 paintings, 2 more to go!

I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out, I didn't use any reference, so I was really leaning on my memory and hoping it'd eventually look like a building I guess.

Also decently pleased with this.

Painted this the other night for fun, 5x5.

Travis' Portrait

I am so excited to show off my first commissioned portrait of 2009! So, thanks to the ever talented Travis Greer, one half of the Jimmy Mooks and one hell of an actor!

The Bay Paintings

I'm working on a series of many small paintings at the moment. I'm trying to see what I can do working from memory instead of using reference. I admit I cheated on the landscape, but that was necessary, as you may have noticed landscapes aren't my usual. Anyway, all the paintings are either 4x4 or 4x12, and the series is only halfway done at the moment.

I'm a little bit dada..

The next few paintings have a modernist flavor that I'm liking lately.

The Joel Paintings

This short series was done in late '07 and early '08 of fellow artist Joel Woodard (http://www.myspace.com/theartofjoelwoodard). Definitely check him out after me.

The 'Green' house was decorated abominably, but I absolutely loved it, it made for good setups.

The wallpaper in his bedroom was so hideous, it really deserved a painting all its own.

Nixed the pattern in this one.

This is my favorite in the series, he was a good sport about the photo session. I had to showcase the moldy showerstall at the Green house.

Painted this on a whim one night, its not cohesive as a series, but I figured I'd keep all the paintings of him in one place.

Adam and Carl

These portraits are from '07 when I was living in the OC and motoring up to LA and meeting all sorts of interesting people.

Both paintings of Adam were from pictures taken on my balcony at some ungodly early hour of the morning.

This last one is family though, from a picture of my Grandpa around the mid 50's.

Let's get this started...

I'm going to be making a lot of different posts today, but I want to keep my art fairly chronologically sorted. So here's some old stuff first!

Ink and charcoal on 16x20 canvas, made sometime in 2006. Showed at the Love House in August '06 during my 'Adventures in Portraiture' show.

Also from the '06 'Adventures' show, one of my favorite sketches still.

Figure painting from '05 roughly, anyone from LCAD can spot Anthony.
